The source (63,464 polys) > shape .s processing took ten minutes ! The above runs in Open Rails without a problem.

Yep, enough time to go do something that involves getting up off my butt, such as making a cuppa tea, or coffee. You could call it a http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/pleasantry.gif comfort break.
I have to thank Hadrians' habit of using what he describes as a mulehttp://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/pleasantry.gif locomotive to represent something else, mainly when he does engineering (ENG) and the object locomotive isn't at the stage where a usable shape is available. It's useful for him (and hence, me) to get a headstart early in the project putting together a ENG and testing the results.
Today's efforts will be going towards adding further details reminiscent of the K37 (to our K27 mule). I ran out of room on the allocated texture to make changes to the firebox artwork. I'll retexture the firebox with a dedicated of 512x512, or 1024x1024.
Since adding the 'new' smokebox, with borrowed artwork, I may have to utilise space on the new firefox texture file for that as well. Both firebox/fittings and firebox are separate objects in the heirarachy.
Contemplating redoing the external counterweights to the K37 shapes (basically 3 the same and one slightly different - but, and it's a big but - centering the c/w so they are truely centered takes some fine adjustment.
I guess that about takes care of some of today's planned activities.
http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/excl.gif I don't know what our ol' purist friend, Herb, thinks of all this liberty taking? http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/unclesam.gif http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/furious.gif http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/ireful2.gif http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/bigboss.gif http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rtfm.gif http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/tease.gifhttp://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/unknw.gif http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/shock6.png http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbdown3.gif http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/bad.gif

:thumbup3: You truly are a great artist Bazza. I've downloaded almost all of your locos and haven't been disappointed by any of them. Now I cannot wait for Open rails to open up downloads again. Keep up the great work Bazza. :dance3:

Thanks for the kind comments, and thanks to The 'Mule', my test bed. I still haven't quite achieved the result on the smokebox I really desire.....the silver is not semi-dull silver enough - so the great experiment continues.
