Yes, it just pushes the train, loosing the tight of a part of couples, making head locomotive's work easier.

Thanks for your reply Rob.
In my second point I`m not refering to detaching a loose coach ( a slip carriage).
I mean a banker, a helping locomotive at the rear.

Sorry, my mistake. Bankers (or helpers) are on my list. Allowing detaching at speed could well be a first step. But no promises, it will take time to get it all done.

I don't know if it is yet so, but in Italy we had a special situation: the helpers weren't coupled with the usual European coupler to the train; instead, there was a so-called "maglia sganciabile" (decouplable link), that connected the helpers with the rear of the train; once arrived at top of the hill, the train driver of the helper would mechanically decouple (from the cabin) this link (with train running); in order to make decoupling possible, it was needed that at that moment the coupling was not stretched, but compressed. There is a story of an old helper locomotive that was pushing the train uphill into a long tunnel; at top of the tunnel the lead locomotive accelerated too early (or the helper locomotive driver wasn't fast enough), so the helper locomotive stayed coupled, and the helper locomotive had a max allowed speed that was quite lower than that of the lead locomotive. So the helper locomotive driver started to whistle and whistle and whistle, but due to the tunnel noise the lead locomotive driver didn't hear nothing. Only at the end of the long tunnel the lead locomotive driver heard the helper locomotive whistling, and slowed down, so the helper locomotive could uncouple the "maglia sganciabile".

Cool!
I've seen on one documental film the memories of one EMU driver from Estonia, as he decided to solve freight train's stuck, obstructing his way.
Yes, they have violated Rules, pushing train by EMU, full of passengers, but there was good outcome, and no one have late to work at that morning.
Otherwise, delay might be an hour, or more, while waiting the backup locomotive to be sent from Tallinn.
Happily, he wasn't fired for that, as foreman have supported him.

Hello,
Has anyone successfully performed a runround recently in player mode?
I found that it works fine in AI mode, but when performing a runround in player mode:
a. Upon reaching the runround point, the locomotive detaches as expected
b. Signals and switches/reverse points are all aligned to route the locomotive to the rear
c. Upon attaching to the rear, the train becomes inactive and the HUD states "Waiting for train to attach" indefinitely

I have at least 2 functional runround situations in my timetables, thereof one with $stable. There were no problems when using it in player mode.

Could you please share your timetable definition for reference?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hello again.
Is there a way to set up a locomotive change in timetable mode where the player switches the power locomotive from one to another?
E.g.
- Player train pulls into station where another locomotive is waiting
- Player locomotive detaches from the train
- New locomotive moves and attaches to the train (either automatically or under player control)
- Player continues driving the train onward with the new locomotive

It works, except last point:
http://www.elvastowe...post__p__283897
Player will stay forever with initial locomotive, for example, waiting for a train in opposite direction to drive.
No jumping to another locomotive is possible.
However, it's possible in activity mode, if You want to experience that.
There You can choose, whether locomotive, You leaving will then be active, or suspended, or even You can jump to any of active trains at any time, You like. Then, You can ride it as a passenger, still controlling Your primary train, or leave it completely, taking full control of new train.
