sfm.hta will not open in Windows 11.
My version is SFM25
Looks like the SFM.hta needs to be SFM.exe
Is there a fix for this?
Thanks

HTA files are actually a form of HTM encoded programming. Also knows as HTML Applications which is essentilly HTML as a presentation and a scripting language to process I/O locally. Its up to the BROWSER to process an HTA file properly and HTA was originally created with the assumption that Microsoft Internet Explorer is available on the PC along with mshta.exe. Some people may have elected to remove IE and related supporting services which likely includes MSHTA,EXE which is why you might be having issues,

In the long run though, you might just want to Install TSRE as has much nicer Shape Viewer option..

There are programs available that convert HTA to EXE. I used one a few years ago, but don't remember which one I used.

This thread brings up a point of real concern. I have resisted upgrading to Windows 11 because there are still so many various programs that I use that won't run on it. Unfortunately, I suspect that any day now Microsoft is going to end support for Windows 10, and those who don't upgrade will be left out in the cold when it comes to new programs, virus protection, etc. That is what Microsoft does.

Shape File Manager and Shapeviewer.dds are two must haves for me.
Anybody got them working in 11?

Randy

Agree, I have been doing everything to prevent WIN10 upgrading to Win11. {although I have reluctantly let WIN 10 update as needed} bluntly --- this https://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbdown3.gif

I'm not a Microsoft fan so , for quite a while now I have turned off win 10 updates . I use a different antivirus program and a much better firewall . I have found over the years that most of their updates are either fixes to heal their own mistakes or just bloat ware . Does anyone really use all the junk that is included in the " updated " versions ?
I've had no problems yet , no malware attacks or viruses for many a year - - so far ?

Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 in 2025.

SFM was good at doing compress/uncompress but I' ve switched over to MSTS / ORTS Utility -- FFEDIT_Sub v1.2. for that now.

And again... TSRE5 has no problem showing shapes even if you use DDS format.

Is there a list of (our) programs known not to work in Win11?

I see a top down view with a difficult to control full 360d rotation left or right. No rotation on the other axis. No rotation for an orthogonal view. Have I missed the commands or is that it?
