Monogame, also known as Open Rails New Year, is a version of OpenRails that was branched off several years ago as kind of an experimental platform to try out new ideas without messing with the main game code.
It has been a wild success. Most of the improvements make their way into the main game when they do a version update.
I've only ever run Monogame. I'm currently on ORMG139, the version that has fixed the problems with Z fighting. For the most part.
Before this fix certain models would show two textures fighting against each other if their surfaces are too close together. Like this.
I'm guessing that the layer that has the glass texture is too close to the front wall and fights to show it's self. The worst part is that it flashes, badly sometimes.
This is what ORMG139 does.
And it's great.
