Here's a new set of FA-1's for Open Rails. These models were started 12 years ago and needed to be finished. Erie Lackawanna's first scheme has always been a favorite of mine. Models are fairly high poly with the "A" units at slightly over 20,000 and the "B's" at 11,690. Each unit also has one 2048 x 2048 DXT1 main texture. Enjoy the shots.

These should be here in the file library in a few weeks.

Very nice models. If you (or someone else) will skin them for the SP&S as well they'd fit right in on the WP 3rd sub for any activity set in the early BN era. The SP&S FA's were very regularly seen in the canyon and 4th sub in those days, along with a very colorful mix of NP, GN (Skyblue and GN Green), and CB&Q locomotives.

For a while 'round this time the westbound BN locomotive lashups were swapped w/ eastbound WP locomotives at long sidings in the lower canyon... pretty much wherever they'd met. The BN equipment would haul the eastbound back to Klamath Falls and the WP locos would take the westbound to Stockton. Wonder if that can be done in Open Rails.... It would make for a good pair of activities... shorter for the WP units, a longer one for the BN.

Daaaaaaang! Allen, those are gorgeous! I know you intended these models for OR, but do they work in MSTS as well? I'm not pressuring you to reduce the polys; I just want to know.

They might run in MSTS, I have an sd45 at just under 19000 polys that runs ok.

If you could send me the patterns and colors I would consider that. I think that without the original artwork it would be exceedingly difficult for anyone to repaint these.

Thank you for creating the EL FA's, which will be right at home on the Tristate route!

Walter

They look pretty good on the L&HR 1940's so they should look good on your route too.

Dustin and Copperpen

There are no plans to make an MSTS version. They were made for Open Rails and that's the way they will be shared. Sorry.
Maybe you'll have to get Open Rails and try it out. The later versions really work well.

A PA-1 to go with the FA-1's. First will be this two tone green with yellow striping for ERIE. Then possibly the black with the yellow wings.

Enjoy

Nice, although they need a bit of pop.

Maybe a touch of spectacular lighting, like Marc does with his models.

I don't know if TSM can do that, but you can add it with SFM.

Could I do a DL&W version for you?

And yes, I do have the font.

Thanks Walter

I have specular lighting capability but won't use it. It flattens the textures and makes them look like rubbish.

That texture for the main part of the model is 4096 square and has not been weathered or highlighted yet. The model was just generated tonight to get a look at her. Give it time. Green and blue are the hardest colors to get to look right.

This model is for OR only too.

PA-1's?!? Five words: Denver and Rio Grande Western!

Did you do the PB-1's also?
