Thanks for this! It works a treat and also on LSE which similarly has a few tree placement issues. It might be worth adding where to place the line in the trk file as some positions do not work. I placed mine at the bottom of the initial list before the Environment settings. Thanks again for all the great work you guys are doing in OR. It has given MSTS a whole new lease of life.

In this case placing the ORTSUserPreferenceForestClearDistance ( 2 ) line at the end of the trk file - before the last bracket - will work just fine.

Any placement should be OK, except inside the Environment() block or outside the first and the last parenthesis.

I put mine inside the last parenthesis.

Just one point for reference.

If the TRK file is changed or viewed, through the Properties menu in MSTS RE, any "extra" parameters hand edited into the TRK file will be removed.

Might be worth a note in the manual to ensure awareness, and a back up copy kept.

Thanks Peter, that's a good point. Maybe also here the best solution is to let OR accept the modified .trk file inserted in the "OpenRails" subfolder, so the MSTS RE won't touch it. I'll try to modify the code this way.

With x.3369 it is now possible to insert the modified .trk file in an Openrails subfolder within the route folder. This way the original .trk file may remain unaltered.
The recommended solution is however to use the include feature, that with this OR release is also operating for .trk files. With the include feature no copy of the original .trk file must be inserted in the Openrails subfolder. Instead, a file like the following one (example for the CrippleCreekRailroads route) must be inserted there
Attached File  CrippleCreekRailroads.zip (269bytes)
Number of downloads: 336
This way the original .trk file may be modified by the MSTS route editor and these modifications may be operating also in OR, and moreover the tree removal feature remains operating.

Thanks for that, sounds like a good change.

Does this code work for any additional parameters added to the TRK fle, or just the ones associated with this patch?

I have already added some additional parameters to the TRK file, and it would be good if they are handled within the same include me file.

Thanks

Finally got a chance to test DC6 thoroughly. Great work carlo, as already reported, the trees are cleared from the track, as well as the overhanging trees. The latter was mainly blocking my view of the signals, which are placed on the left-hand side of the track.

Thanks

Any additional parameter may be inserted in the include file.
