On a rainy summer's morning the three times weekly Broadalbin turn leaves Gloversville for the nine mile mostly uneventful trip through the woods to Broadalbin.

Uneventful? I wouldn't call seeing a pair of classy Suzy-Q ALCOs at work uneventful, Paul! :wacko: Great series of screenies again. This is a good-looking route from every angle, even in the rain.

Fonda's got to be one of the most photogenic places I've seen on the route so far. All that's missing is birdsong and crickets, with a dog barking off in the distance...

There are bird and cricket sound in Fonda but no dogs! Are there MSTS dog sounds?

It's so good that it looks like the set of a sci-fi movie, where all the people have been kidnapped by aliens so they can play with the trains. :lol:

Upstate New York is a beautiful area but it becomes a blaze of color in the fall. In the following shots it is early fall when the trees are working their way towards their zenith and there are still some trees that have not started to change yet. The SuzyQ morning commuter on this brisk fall morning is heading west from the siding where it had waited for the PC westbound passenger train to clear the Fonda station.


After the workers have all loaded and are seated the train heads north towards the factories in Johnstown and Gloversville.










Oh, and Capt., all the people are inside working hard to make as mang gloves as they can for the snowy winter that is soon to follow:

Paul, Chuck Zeiler has a sound package available at TS, "zsounds.zip", found in the MSTS Sounds section. In it are a variety of birds, cows, goats,
sheep, frogs, crickets, dogs, ducks, pigs and two flange squeal sounds. I have dogs barking on one of my routes, where when I drive through the dog barking sound source, my dog, if he's present, will continue the barking chain. :wacko:

I'd been working on the FJ&G branch of the NYS&W for about six months now. It was the last day of June and I reported to work at 6 AM sharp. The sun was just coming up and the sky was ago on this summer's morning.




I picked up my RS at the engine house and after going over my engine and picking up my orders I headed out into the yard to assemble the morning Fonda Turn. After dropping off the cars at the interchange we retreated to FJ&G rails to await the morning PennCentral westbound freight to exchange cars.


By lunch time my conductor and I were back in Gloversville and after dropping off the cars in the yard we took the engine over by the station and parked it there while we walked into town for lunch.




After lunch it was time for some yard switching, assembling the afternoon Fonda train and that would be taken down by the second shift crew. The afternoon seemed to fly by as we switched the yard and ran a local to North Gloversville and back and when we clocked out at 5 the second trick crew was just ready to pull pull out for Fonda to take the day's pickups along with some switching in Johnstown on the way down.
