Just as Tim Muir is developing a super rendition of a What If version of a portion of the Pacific Electric known as the PET, representing traction on the west coast, and as Wayne Campbell has done for Canada with his trend setting L&PS, so to another Canadian, Paul Charland is doing with a back woods upstate New York shortline that just happened to have an Electric division that serves places like Schenectady, Amsterdam, Johnstown and Gloversville. The railroads Name was the Fonda, Johnstown & Gloversville.
Pauls rendition is based in 1955 when the electric division was alas no more, but the railroad itself can trace its roots all the way back to 1866. Paul is trying to create an accurate copy of the route, all 19 miles of it, complete with its 2.8% grade for the first few miles out of Fonda, where it met the NYC, as well as its numerous tanneries and other industries.
Paul is relying heavily on custom made buildings and it is one of the best shortline routes I have had the privilege to be able to run. The following are some shots taken on the route starting in Fonda and working my way up to Gloversville where the main yard and shops are located. Paul is still working towards the end of the line another 9 miles distant.

Looks superb Paul - this is going to be a must have - Paul's buildings are excellent and it is good to have such a range of "one off" structures.
#62 looks at home - quite a Ma & Pa look alike route.

I used to railfan the area back in the day. He's really captured it. Almost a look alike to some areas of the Housatonic...

Now that's intimate railroading. Just how I like it, running through people's yards, rubbing shoulders with the town's businesses, ducking from glen to glen. The M&Pa doodlebug and RPO look right at home, Paul. Nice screen shots! :whistling:
