Old birds from pre-MSTS-Bin days...Perly Thomas ex-New Orleans street cars, seen out West.
the Triple Nickle, makes a stop at "Foley's".
Remembering my old departed friend, Phil Moberg, who was instrumental in the production of the Perly Thomas cars. You are missed.
Street Cars Anybody running street or interurban cars these days?

Hello Tim (and of course also the colleagues here from Elvas Tower.) ;)
"Anybody running street or interurban cars these days?" - Of course.
I still enjoy the old trams from the old MSTS days. Some time ago I started building a fictional small town called Bridgeport in the Northeast with a two-line streetcar system and Interurban. Here are some screenshots:
At the Main Street
Terminus at Bridgeport College
Bridgeport is located on Bridgeport Lake, a medium-sized inland lake with some boat traffic.
Bridgeport Interurban Terminal, starting point of Bridgeport Electric Ry.
The small tram depot
Bridgeport Electric Ry railcars at the suburban interurban station
The Interurban Depot with Steeple Cab Locomotive
The performance of the cars in ORTS is problematic. I'm still trying to adjust the cars, especially the brakes. But I'm not really satisfied with it yet. Has someone made experience?
Best wishes
Malte

I'd like to but it's almost impossible for TSRE to lay the road shapes I've made... no streets, no streetcars.
The specific issue is due to putting an arch into a street and then building it out lane number by lane number. They all have to have the same altitude on their origin so the fit together properly. That puts the paths well above that. It works for placing rails but not for streets. Goku tried to fix it... it's still very hard to get things done.
That's slowed things down on the streetcar front rather severely.

Alright! These are great, guys. Malte, I really like the looks of the BER. I see many old, old models, like the Messabe cars that must be nearly 20 years old, eh? I like your repaints, the box motor, especially. :thumbup3:
Paul, love your shots, over various routes. A long-g-g ways away from Los Angeles!
Dave, so sorry about your problems with the street railway track pieces not going as planned. I was looking forward to seeing it come to fruition.

I wanted to add a portion of track under wire to the VSL but the all or nothing catenary was a reason not to continue.

Thank You, Tim. The Mesaba Motorwagen you built is still a beautiful model after 20 years. Thanks for that.
Not really a street car, but traction nonetheless. I found the Charles City Western Railway very attractive. That's why I'm currently building them. Here some pictures from the route.
Depart Marple Rock
Trestle Bridge over Flood Creek
Highway overpass southwest of Charles City
South Charles City
The viaduct over the Cedar River
In Charles City
The Carbarn. The Mesaba motor car also cuts a fine figure as a CCW 50. :)

Randy, with TSRE it is very easy to display tracks without catenary within a route. All you have to do is select a piece of track in the editor and set the detail level to 2. This piece of track is then displayed in OR without catenary.
It becomes more difficult with a dynamic track. You must first convert this into a shape file using Dynatrax. Then continue as described above.

Interurban Rail Roads are fine under this heading. :)
Malte, the Messaba cars were a joint effort between me and their originator, Matt Austin, during which time he was teaching me some of the basics of modeling and texturing. Seems like a hundred years ago!
I like the CCW route. I had railroads like that and the Iowa Traction Co. in mind for that particular Baldwin 60-ton freight motor's paint job. I'm glad to see you using it in it's intended region ;) Also, you can't beat the colors you've chosen, Traction Orange looks so good on these models.
Back out West, on our little trek south on the PE West, car #555 make its sway down Ballona Boulevard.
The motorman has to inch by the poorly parked stake bed truck...the owner had better move it before the next freight train comes through!
Locals refer to this as "Baloney" Boulevard . Passing Paul's Diner.
A little less congested here..
Marlene's Restaurant is an unofficial stop, here. It will need a shelter for passengers..from here the road enters private right of way along the beach.
