So we have a new competitor to the market. At NSS Hinckley, CP 250 heads southbound with three KCS AC44's. https://i.imgur.com/qUFmYTe.png

Welcome to club.
What is "Taconite"?
I like these striped handrails.

Hello Weter,

Taconite is a sort of iron ore or more precise, an iron-containing mineral, see for example this article.

It's also used as a trade name for pre-processed pellets of said mineral.

Greetings, Peter

Raw taconite is concentrated up to about 65% iron content in a processing plant and then rolled into small (~2cm dia.) pellets for ease of transportation. I believe some freight cars on trainsim.ru have loads of pelletized iron ore that pretty closely match what we have here, although ours are a more reddish tint to them

Hi, Travis.
Yeah, I've seen open hoppers for aglomerate and rolled pellets by Alexander Rudichenko a.k.a.Riddik there.
(didn't install them due to very big file size for freight cars and post-1990 era)
Spoiler

I also have read, that this mineral is almost specific for area around Superior lake. Contains a lot of chert.

The H-NTWSUP, led by a 25th Anniversary BNSF Sticker unit (5828), heads through the small community of Henriette, MN. 4 other GE's and four EMD units complete today's motive power. https://i.imgur.com/gtEgEk6.jpg

Very nice machine.

There is a maximum powered axle limitation to prevent pulling couplers apart.
The rear three or four locomotives should be isolated, taken off line, or dead in tow.

BNSF's train IDs are (one letter train type)-(three letter origin city code)(three letter destination city code), s H-NTWSUP is a type H train (high priority manifest I think) that runs from Northtown (Twin Cities, MN) to Superior, WI.

Power transfers are actually semi-common around here. Almost certainly all but two or three units are isolated or DIT
