Understood - thanks for the response!

Good.
Let's imagine: we are at single locomotive:
Three cameras glued to front end and look forward, three-from opposite end look backward.
Then we begin set-back, but instead of selecting one of three rear cameras, we are pressing Alt-End.
What then?
Before, that only 6-cam was flipped, but now?

Yeah, Scott, but only one sad fact:
Passing tight curves shifts "the head" too far away.
Hence, if Carlo will be inspired with your offer, and new viewport will follow the same unit, but without "glue" that would be amazing.

Hi Weter,

I believe I came up with this “cheat” with my original LHR Mountain (I didn’t get it from anyone else) - way back in MSTS before ORTS (which only provided relative movement in turns) - and I’ve been using it ever since. I’ve never really had an issue where the head view seemed to swing unrealistically far from the cab - even through tight switches and such. I’ve built stubby short Consolidations and long and lean Mountains. For me - it works extremely well and is immensely satisfying.

That said - I’d gladly look at however you wanted to implement it.

I’d love to see similar on diesels - honestly - I never run electrics.

Thanks for the response.

Regards,
Scott

Well, I've discovered that occasionally.
Look at this ride report

I used passenger view of the first coach to explore its interior, and then have shifted it, for showing diesel from outside, then have "entered" it's cab.
After that, I have decided to start moving, but continued to use this view, as it is nicer, than 2d cab's night variant.
Then I was amazed, when train began oscillating (so car's and engine's movement didn't match): the feeling of the real head on the neck!

But, passing curve...

Hi Weter,

These are a couple old videos from a while back I just had laying around.

I can make a better one demonstration tight switches and such.

That little bit of movement makes all the difference in the world.

I must be honest with you and Carlo: that was quite long coach and not so short engine...
So, the "head" shifted by less, then meter, but it was indeed too far, than in real drivers armchair.
That was not a sport aircraft with its 5G turns.

So, I believe, that in case of tender's end positioned cam, that is quite near steamer's booth - there will be no such issues certainly.

If you would, please follow this sequence:

Furthermore, diesels have no tenders...

Well, I'll go to give you the link now..

Hi Weter,

Yep - I can see how different car lengths could be a problem - a better solution would be as stated - just to isolate the camera without relying on separate car passenger views. If you really wanted to get fancy - we could introduce momentum like we have in Flight Sims.

Regards,
Scott

I see that the feature didn't draw much interest, so I won't make it available at the moment.

It is a fine feature and I'm sure people would use it...however, there are probably more important areas that need attention...triage, triage, triage.
On some locomotives and many a caboose, I put a "5" view in the file...out on the rear ( sometimes front platform ) and note that in the display name ( for Consist editors )

Yes.
The standalone 6-camera would help to tell "true passenger view" from "general brakeman view", so first would be left at coaches only, and the latter may be present with any of rolling stoch units.
