I was with Trainz for over 3 years and still 'play' occasionally. I've made many a model over there. I don't shy away. http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

Okay, can somebody remind me why we MSTS'ers/ORTS'ers shy away from Trainz?

for me its simple, to much time and energy invested in MSTS/ORTS, do not want to give up all the hard work i have put in over the years and with the setup on MY PC do not want to confuse myself with another sim. I did try railsimulator when it first came out but soon ignored it, far to complicated for me, but over the years it has been updated free to newer incarnations and i did buy the odd route when the silly sales were on but still do not like it other than the scenery, i think my steam account shows i have only run in total around 1 hour in all the years it has been on the machine, much prefer the direction ORTS is going in. I like what i see in the scenery with the other sims and wish ORTS would be able to do that, but thats the only jealous emotion i feel over the others and its not enough to pull me away from ORTS.

I have an early version of Trainz. It is an enjoyable "simulator" to use, although it has been gathering dust on my shelf for many a year now. I found it too much of a hassle to run round chasing down dependencies, Body A needs bogies b and drivers c before you can use it. Plus these other bits bobs and pieces are dotted all over the place.

Absolutely stunning screenshots, Claus. Some of those could be mistaken for real photographs!

I've always found Trainz intriguing, especially with all the excellent 3rd party content from outfits like Jointed Rail. But a few systems--namely the track laying--have kept me from going back. It does make for some fantastic screenshots though.
