It is easy to make ONE custom trainset path. Why it is not good solution for you?
Because there are no con editors that can adequately filter ONE custom trainset path because none have useful filtering. I don't use One custom trainset path because I want to see just those locomotives you'd expect to see in a particular region, for a particular range of dates. Ditto for all cars. All One custom trainset path does is shove everything into one list which is exactly the opposite of what I have by using multiple trainset paths.
One advantage of a con editor producing .con files from multiple paths is that you can organize multiple trainset folders by a range of dates -- dates acquired specifically... like US_West_1930-54 or US_Wide 1955-1975. What this does is give you one and only one master location for your .wags and .engs.
The wagon statement in a con file would then look something like this:
XM_CNW_144864_LD "e:\bin\Open Rails - US West 1930-1952\XM_CNW_USRA_SS"
and it would not matter which mini-route directory held that .con file.
I asked what it might mean and basically you replied it would mess up your current design. I knew that already. What would it mean to design for multiple sources? Seems to the first thing is multiple windows, each containing a list of .engs and .wags from one location each. The end user would be expected to indicate which of those windows he wanted to work from and the current set of windows would change over the editing session. Going from an existing con file back tot he windows would be easy enough because all the paths are present in the file. Offhand I can't think of anything else... tho there might be. And itr wasn't very hard to think of.

Better and easier is just make more advanced filtering. Your solution is something like filtering using directories with ugly solution.

Not exactly sure what would cause this. Open Rails works just fine but when I open Gokus editor all of my content looks like this. I tried to see if it was an Eng file or some thing so I deleted everything except one consist and a locomotive I knew worked but it still happens.

Does the route builder work?
It looks like it recognizes your content but the graphics engine isn't working.
Have you downloaded ALL the package and not just the latest .exe update?

I got it to work again. For some reason one of the files must have been corrupted because it just recently happened and I had to re download every thing and redo it all. Luckally I had it all backed up so all I had to do is write over the files again and it worked.

I have a problem with the editor which may be of my own making!
I am preparing to make use of it so opened it and checked the operation of how to make changes to existing consists and similar actions. I was very concerned that, on closing the Editor, all the rubbish changes I had made were saved, and existing consists amended, without any reference back to me as to whether existing files should be overwritten. Is there an option to prevent this happening?
