The majority of slow brake release problems in OR can be backtracked to low AirBrakesMainResVolume() settings. When the locomotive main brake air reservoir exhausts just after a single braking action, then one has to wait until the compressor recharges it, which is slow.

Default S2000 is configured to 6 ft3 (170 L). In comparison Hungarian V43 series locomotive has 1200 L main reservoir capacity in real life. I cannot imagine why default MSTS locomotives are so underconfigured.

Also, for a 90 psi brake system a 100 psi main reservoir pressure is configured by default... This also affects capacity, in the wrong direction. In real life, I think it should be 130-140 psi. The lower this pressure is, the faster the reservoir will exhaust.

That's one problem, but here the recharging rate is ridiculously and unrealistically slow 2 kpa/sec (which is 0.02 BAR/sec), i saw something like this on MÁV Flirt (0.03 BAR/sec).
I've tried setting AirBrakesAirCompressorWattage AirBrakesAirCompressorPowerRating, to higher values, but none of these had effect on charging rate. Also if i set AirBrakesMainResVolume to 7 times higher than the original, the charging rate will be the same, is the compressor charging rate is hard coded in game? Are all engine units are charging the brake lines, or only the driven one is charging?

I changed the EmergencyResCapacity to ( "1.5*^3" ) on all cars and I changed the AirBrakesMainResVolume to 70 on both eng files. The main res maintains approx. 100 psi at all times and the brakes release fast. To get the rapid recharge you have to set the Brake pipe charging rate on the first options page. If I set this to 1, the recharge rate was very slow. Setting it to 50 gives a brakes release within 5 or 6 seconds on an 8 car set.

EDIT:- ( "1.5*^3" ) should be ( "1.5ft^3" )

Hello,

I have a table of different trains with the max cylinderpressure

I try todo this in OR, with EP system, but Always the max cylinderpressure go to 5BAR (i have set 3.8 BAR)

only if i do emergency brake, the pressure in brakecilinders go to 0 BAR, and than to 3.8 BAR

:help:

This will only happen if you set 'TrainBrakesControllerFullServicePressureDrop' to zero.

You can still achieve the correct max brake cylinder pressure with the above by lowering the max train pipe pressure ie:-

50 PSI for max brake cylinder, set 'TrainBrakesControllerMaxSystemPressure' to 50. If your cab has a train pipe needle, then adjust it so its showing the correct pressure on the cab dials.

So in your case, set 'TrainBrakesControllerMaxSystemPressure' to 3.8 bar, then adjust the brake pipe needle via the cab CVF to show 5.0 BAR.

Thanks

Hello,

That is just the thing, the LAR of this older type EMU stay on 5 BAR, en only brakecylinders running.

If i use other number than( 72 ) on the TrainBrakesControllerFullServicePressureDrop, this is happend.

By 72 PSI (5BAR) it work ok, but LAR moving too :-(, i think it is not possible to simulate that trick.

The new EMU of Siemens have this system too, LAR stay on 5BAR, onley brake cylinders work.

In my country we drive on the European 5 BAR regime:

Set MaxSystemPressure to 54.72, that will allow 3.84 bar max for BC pressure.

For the train or engine ?

I must see that the European 5 or 7 BAR pressure stay used.

You have already set it for the engine so it's the trainbrake.

Also note that the Distributor parameters do not function in OR except:

BrakeDistributorReleaseRate ( x )
BrakeDistributorApplicationRate ( x )

But i tested all this a while back so unless something has changed where the other parameters now work.

I will say that for my E.P EMU setup, there is no engine brake section. Here is my EMU trainbrake:

TrainBrakesControllerMinPressureReduction( 0 )
TrainBrakesControllerMaxApplicationRate( 3 )
TrainBrakesControllerMaxReleaseRate( 3 )
TrainBrakesControllerEmergencyApplicationRate( 10 )
TrainBrakesControllerMinSystemPressure( 0 )
TrainBrakesControllerMaxSystemPressure( 50 )-----for a 70PSI system
TrainBrakesControllerFullServicePressureDrop( 0 )

With this, i get EP BC with no movement of trainpipe needle and both with service or emergency.

Thanks
