Goku, can we have some kind of circular thingamajig that can be used for punching holes in the terrain for turntable placement?Robert

I created a circular flat disk with a turntable sized hole in the center for use a turntable 'skirt' so to speak. As you may imagine It's about impossible to punch a round hole in a terrain mesh composed of triangles! You could not do it in MSTS either so the skirt solution is very easy.
It's textured only on the top side to save polys. I think (but not sure) I used this in 2004 when building the nec4 and takes about 5 minutes to make one using SketchUp. I'll use the surrounding ground texture to 'paint' the skirt.

Here's a pic of a to-be-textured skirt hovering over the Alto Engine House about to be placed over one of the two new operational turntables at Altoona Pa. on the PRR East Region-2 route upgrade. Yeah, I know I said I'd release when Zoo was done but I couldn't resist including Ron Pikardi's Altoona upgrade also. It was just way too nice to leave out so it's in and scenery / track is being touched up for a smooth ride. Toot Toot!

I included a not-all-that 'skirt' as a separate shape with my replacement 42m turntable a while back. In my excellent hindsight, I should have made it part of the turntable shape...

Hi Goku
I am an Italian TSRE5 user (excuse my English but I used Google Translate)
I wanted to ask you if there is the possibility to display the height variation (Y) while using the keys to decrease or increase the height
I refer to the rotation properties on the left of the screen

Thank you
Esserre57

Hmm, I think that you can see the Y height of an object.
If you want something different then maybe you need to explain it in more details.

Hi Goku,
I just saw that you released a new version of the Route Editor on your website.
Could you make a short list of the amendments/changes ?

Many thanks
Boris

Hey Goku,

I happened to come across this website while searching for OSM maps https://www.openstreetmap.org Not sure if we could implement this one into the software. You can download files from them and would be really helpful since the old mapping system doesn't work any more.

Brandon,

I believe gpsvisualizer, which Goku mentions as a marker file source, has OSM maps there, along with a host of others. Anything from satellite views to google maps, and old USGS maps (somewhere between late 50s and early 80s) - the latter are very useful for routes in that era

Then how do you get it to work? I have tried the link and nothing. I have also tried downloading the files and still nothing works. Is there a certain step I am missing?
