At the end of January I will be showing off Open Rails at the Amherst Railway Society's big train show in Springfield MA at the Big E. It's perhaps the biggest train show in the world, certainly in the US - perhaps 40,000 people pass through. I was thinking it would be nice to pass out CD's of Open Rails with a few routes and some stock. I have no idea if I'll be able to get this organized in time, but it's an opportunity to reach a larger audience, I think.

Good luck with this, Christopher, and do let us know how it turns out.

It's not packaged yet with an installer or any instructions, but please try the Beta release and tell us what you think. Both the Activity and the Timetable options are included.

Ah. Ok, I will do. I enjoy these routes. Especially with lots of AI services.

I would dearly love to distribute a model with Open Rails so that anyone without MSTS can download Open Rails and try it out straight away. I expect it will make a big difference to interest in the project.

My proposal is that we extract a short section from a commercial route (just enough to drive from one station to the next). I would also like to see a tutorial or commentary to accompany the demo.

Dave Babb (of Making Tracks) has generously offered to let us do this with one of their routes. I was thinking either Greater Eastern "GE2 Romford - Upminster Shuttle Part 1"

or perhaps Scottish Capital Express "09:30 Edinburgh - Glasgow Queen Street" but ending at Haymarket.

I'm not a model builder and had no experience in cutting a route down in size, so I'm looking for some builders and testers who would like to help with this effort. How difficult would it be technically?

That route on the first picture is pretty cool! when will it release?

Sorry, mate, but that post was from 2014 and neither of the original routes is legitimately available because Making Tracks no longer exists. You might be able to obtain the them through sites like Ebay or, if you're very lucky, a member who has moved away from MSTS/ORTS may have one or both routes for disposal.

Cheers,
Ged

The engines, cars, and coaches have great quality. but the graphics are ok, but it would be great with nicer if reshade worked for open rails

I think such an option should be available from options too, since it would be useful not just for programmers, but e.g. for route builders too, for example to list what files were missing from an installation package, because MSTS fails to list it properly. (Please list the referenced but unfound files separately.)
I agree! Building routes sound pretty hard! because it take a while to model all the things you need to put it into the game!

Works with Monogame for me also, as Derek said. OR Monogame&ReShade
