You could make an experimental version of you engine with a reduced volume of fuel in the tender... should just be about changing values in the locomotive´s (!) .eng file:

	MaxTenderCoalMass ( <ValueHere>lb )
	MaxTenderWaterMass ( <ValueHere>lb )

With less fuel available, it shouldn´t take you so long to used it all.

Cheers, Markus

we can't start with partial loads

Since r2087 now you can.

Hi Folks,

Thanks - I'll see if I can recreate it - I was running Derek's Mallet from here in the file library... Maybe articulated locomotives behave differently ?

Regards,
Scott

I am not sure if ORTs treats helpers in the same way as MSTS where they use no fuel or water. if not this is what is happening;

An articulated is two eng files, one driven, one helper. The refill option only works for the cab you are in. So, even if you refill one half, the other half will run out, but you cannot change cabs while moving. You could simulate a water stop. Refill, change cabs and refill, then change back to the original cab again.

Alternatively, maybe ORTS could refill all locomotives coupled directly together (IE, DPU´s would have to be refueled on their own) at once, when refilling from one cab...

Maybe that could solve the problem :)

Cheers, Markus

Tip: You can make the fuel input diameter oversize to allow some flexibility - it's not so easy to stop any loco exactly adjacent to the RP. I recommend 1m for steam water inlet and about 3m for coal. For diesel I recommend 2+m because the fuel hose is more flexible. Visually, you cannot 'stretch' a part or object, of the model refuelling facility, hence the greater diameter compensates for lack of slack.

This is a simulation and workarounds like this are useful tools.

Cheers Bazza.

Addendum, the fuel input diameter is the last figure in the fuei input statement line - in each case.

I think it will be a great change in a OR auto update in the future.

For some reason, I can fill coal, but not water. I'm running OR X2351 standalone with only the Burrinjuck route at present. I'm trying at Marilba. Picking up coal is no problem. Using Trackviewer I have confirmed that there are two pickup points of different size. The engine has these in the .eng:

       IntakePoint ( 1.0 2.0 FuelWater )
       IntakePoint ( -1.0 2.0 FuelCoal )

I tried going forth and back a little, thinking that the water intake may not be ligning up.

Regards,
Peter.

Best to post a bug report and a copy of your OpenRailsLog.txt.

I added this feature but I've got a backlog so if no one else jumps in to fix it quickly, I'll sort it out later.
