Has anyone suggested making the Open Rails "Options" " Display Options"and "Experimental" or whatever they will eventually be called route specific instead of global. Some routes can be run with max world object density and all other options checked; while running routes like Horseshoe Curve benefit from lower settings. I always thought the Global nature of the settings in MSTS was a disadvantage, still I have the same opinion in Open Rails. There is a large detail and world difference among all the routes and to run them on the same global settings or having to reset for each route is something I don't understand the necessity for. I don't know if it is practical to make these settings Route Specific, seems an advantage to me. That way each route could be fine tuned to run and no need to remember or constantly change to settings. Like a running profile for each route. Cordially, rhs (aka gerry)

That would definitely be a blast, especially for those who are not running OpR on the most modern machines available - Thinking of me running low-scenery routes like Bob Wirth´s ATSF routes at Settings suitable for e.g. the Sufliner II route.. :)

Cheers, Markus

Markus, reading your posts I am continually amazed at how much you accomplish, and your drive to investigate and explore different aspects of OpR and MSTS. I'm happy you think "route specific" options may be a possibility for OpR. I suppose it wouldn't be too difficult, the route ".trk" file or simply the path to the route could be used to identify which options to use when a route was loaded. Cheers rhs (aka gerry)

Been thinking more about the turntable and the TDB... isn't it really just a turnout with multiple pins?...

I was thinking about that recently as well. I believe we can accomplish this by updating TDB data after the table turns, no need to define pins at all.

I'd prefer to be able to take control of the AI train and make it do what it should be doing anyway.

The problem is what to do with the train you just abandoned?

If it has a path (and timetable?), let the AI take it over. If not, just put it in to an emergency state so it stays put.

Easy. Let the human dispatcher release it.

Seriously, if the AI trains showed up in the Multiplayer dispatch view, I see no reason why you couldn't be able to execute a rudimentary set of controls, i.e. stop, reverse & forward.

I tried it long time ago and had no problem controlling it.

@ Gerry: Well, it´s not too hard to find out These things if you don´t really have your one-and-only favourite route :rotfl: Just posting what I notice on my way through different Scenarios, though I can´t help Feeling I don´t dignify the positive Points of OpR enough... Just saying "Keep up the great work, guys :jawdrop2: " or similar, I feel, is not enough at times :/

Anyway, talking of a "drive to explore": Well, that´s always been me LOL Thinking of the stories I was told about me as a Baby, I must have been a real Monster to look after LOL And still today - poor geometry, maths or computing teachers xD

Cheers, Markus
