Yeah., Spud's screenshot shows exactly what I'm seeing. Going to pop back into OR and grab some screens.

Note that I'm running Windows XP SP3, a gig of ram and an nVidia gForce 7950 video card with 256 megs of ram.
That's an awfully 'lightweight' system for Open Rails.

My shots show that the shadows follow the camera around (regardless of which camera I use), that they can be seen even from "underground" and in one shot (taken "up" from "underground") you can see the "shadow" has a definite shape.
Let me know what else I can get you. I test software for a living for the Army, but really the last thing I want to do on my free time... is test more software. :rotfl: :oldstry:

Oh, you mean shift + F5. :rotfl: Sorry. :oldstry:
edit: btw, the environment is set to Summer with a start time of 9am, if that makes any difference.

For those familiar with graphics terms, the problem here is with the diffuse lighting, not shadows, but I totally know why people will call it that. :rotfl:

Regarding #1, no I haven't. Can you give me a bit of guidance? Not entirely sure where to change this (am well versed at regedit, just not sure where the entry is that you reference).

1) Have you tried forcing "ShaderModel" to 2, in the registry? This will change how things look are far as diffuse lighting is concerned. I will qualify the last statement with, at least with ATI/AMD GPUs they do.
2) What happens when you enable dynamic shadows? Screen captures with Debug HUD? [NB: Leave "ShaderModel" as 3, in the registry for this test.]
Thanks,
Eldorado
