Hi All,

I've been working on a new route for a while, the Boston and Maine's Connecticut River Route Mainline. This route will start at Brattleboro, VT where the Central Vermont and Boston and Maine join up and share a mainline, and follow the Conn River to White River Junction, VT, about sixty-two miles. At Bellows Falls the Rutland connects from the west (five miles modeled) and the B&M's Cheshire Route from the east (elevan miles modeled). North of Bellows the line connects with the Springfield Terminal and a few miles north, the Claremont and Concord. At White River Ju8nction the CV and B&M part ways, sharing a passenger station but have their own yards and engine facilities.

The route is set in the mid 1950s so it's possible to see the last of the Central Vermont's 2-10-4s and the Springfield Terminal's B-1b electrics final days.

Here are a few shots for you:

B&M Train 5555 head south along the Connecticut River Route Mianline.

Entering the yard at North Walpole, NH, 5555 meets Train JS-1.

5555 crosses the Conn River while approaching the Bellows Falls, VT station.

After the station stop the crew will back onto the Rutland and then proceed for 0.2 miles until it's back on the B&M Cheshire Route.

5555 crosses into New Hampshire on the twin stone arch bridge.

Crossing the Cold River bridge at the south end of Fitchburg Yard.

No passengers this morning for Walpole.

From Walpole to Westmoreland it's a steady 206 foot climb.

5555 passes B&M local EX-1 at Westmoreland. EX-1 originated in East Deerfield and came up the Chershire Route via Keene.

Looks good so far, Paul - but then, how could it be any other way with one of your routes? :lol2: :whistling:

Cheers, Markus

Thanks Markus,

Indecently, I'm having trouble taking screen shots in OR, sometimes it takes one and sometimes it just goes to a black screen and I have to do a Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get back to the menu and close the program. Had to take these in MSTS.

It certainly feels that way to me as well, Paul. It's been a few years since I've been over towards Bellows Falls, but upon arriving there in the sim, I knew exactly where I was. Here are some shots from my own exploring in Open Rails. Yes, the P&W GEs are way out of era and place, but I always explore new routes with this consist. That and I don't have any of my Boston and Maine or Central Vermont equipment on this computer yet. I never really realized how stiff some of the grades were until I noticed I was in notch-3 just to accelerate from 30 to 40 mph.

Those P&Ws look great! http://www.elvastower.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/clapping.gif

That's because I live in Worcester, MA.

There is absolutely, positively, no way my Cheshire RR effort will EVER look this good. Oh well. ;)
