These shots look beautiful!

I know Max will appreciate the role that the Dari Joy plays in the local community and what a big deal opening day of the season is.

That white house on a hill in the third picture is now a Chinese restaurant. There was a path worn to it from the tracks by Guilford train crews who would stop there

It has been awhile since there has been a post to this thread. Paul is working on the White River Junction area and the rest of the route has come along nicely. Here are a few shots of the latest beta, with some personal mods.

It didn't take long before it left Brattleboro behind

Gorgeous work, Paul, and great pictures Paul.

Hmmm...

Paul C: When this thing is finished... will you have a copy that won't have inter-actives on it?

This thing could be backdated and be a dandy funnel/diamond stack route to play on!

Hi Andre,

I do have one with no inter-actives, but that was the first beta with nothing other then track! You could get a beta off me after the route is complete and remove the inter-actives yourself.

Paul :-)

Will do. It is VERY easy to miss an inter-active and get yourself in trouble... but with that kind of scenery and infrastructure... the risk would be worth it!

What again are the terminals on your Conn River line? I know Bellows Falls is there, as well as White River Junction... are there others?

Andre,
Terminals include Brattleboro, Bellows Falls/Walpole, Claremont Junction, White River Junction/Westboro. There once was an enginehouse in Windsor and in 1956, that building still existed and was an industry (a foundry, I think - I forget). The Springfield Terminal electric trolley interchanged freight north of Charleston and made passenger connections in Charleston. In earlier times (before 1956 when the route was set) there were trolleys in both Bellows Falls and Brattleboro that each brought freight to the freight house - the Bellows Falls line interchanged cars, I believe. There was a trolley line from Claremont that I think ran to Claremont Junction (or was it Charleston, now I forget) and made passenger connections and freight connections in Claremont (6 miles east of what is modeled in this route). There was a narrow gauge West River railroad that ran out of Brattleboro and was later standard gauged before being abandoned in the thirties. (The book about it is called "36 miles of trouble"). Another shortline, The Woodstock Railroad, connected in White River Junction until 1933.

I've got all the valuation maps from the turn of the twentieth century and can supply you with Sanborn maps too.

Christopher

Brattleboro??

COOL!

Sniff... sniff...

I smell an 1860s Vermont Valley or the Connecticut River RR brewing in the future!!

Thanks Christopher!

The scenery Paul created in this route is exquisite I got to to travel through some of this area early this past summer, when we left on a trip to New England the day after we moved into our new house here in Florida. It truly is some beautiful country.
