Hello.
Thanks; dir's structure looks right... ORTS log should tell something.
Ususlly, in case of some missings or errors, Menu shows <locomotive not found> or so in appropriate fields, but in Your case - it doesn't...

I wonder what would happen if I removed all of the MSTS fluff from the SDJR folder and went with just the stuff Open Rails is looking for. Do you think that might work?

No. Open Rails is can be pointed to a MSTS installation....all it is looking for are four folders and sub folders
GLOBAL
SOUND
ROUTES\ subfolders containing individual routes
TRAINS\Trainset and Consists subfolders

My guess is that you have mistakenly misdirected OR .... go to the Options\Content Tab and look at the entry in question and see what the path is.

The path is right.

I moved the entire SDJR folder to another folder to see if it still does it. Still no dice.

Apparently, it is reading the Global and Routes folder because the route is showing up. However, it isn't reading the Trains folder because none of the locomotives or consists are showing up.

Hi shadowmane,
You didn't tell us HOW you ended up with the GLOBAL, ROUTE, SOUND and TRAINS folders !
If you used the supplied installer, it is installed as a miniroute, controlled by Mike Simpson's Mini-Loader. This acts in a similar manner to TrainStore to reduce the 'load' on MSTS. As soon as Mini-Loader is run, all the activities and consists have their file extensions set to '.off'. The user selects an activity to run and its extension, together with those of all the consists used by that activity, are changed to '.act' and '.con' respectively so that they can be 'seen' by MSTS.

Could it be that, after you'd installed the route, you ran Mini-Loader before copying the folders into your Open Rails installation?

Mini-Loader contains a function to restore the correct extension to each activity and consist file (<Unstore All>).

Cheers,
Ged

Actually, I did run the mini-loader the other night to see if it worked in Windows 11. I wonder if I hit a button by mistake. I went into the mini-loader and hit unstore all. Now it works. Thanks. I was racking my brain on this one and couldn't figure out why it wasn't seeing the Trains directory.

Hi shadowmane,
Glad to be able to help :)

If you're not using MSTS, may I suggest that, if it's present, you delete the Mini-Loader shortcut from your Desktop.
Also, delete sdjr_Mini_Loader.exe and Mini_Loader.ini from the main folder so that this problem can't recur !

Cheers,
Ged

I did even better than that. I simply moved the Global, Routes, Sound and Trains folders into a new folder marked SDJR and I'm putting the MSTS Mini-Route onto my NAS for safekeeping. I then moved that folder back into my trains data folder and I'm in business.

Hi,
That's great, mate :)

Depending on when you purchased the S&DJR CD, it might be missing the sounds for the Hymeks, Warships and Westerns. These are included in file ID 26876 from trainsim.com.

Cheers,
Ged

I believe I purchased it around 2016-ish. I'll check those files out, though.
