I can confirm that Open Rails is reading both front and rear driver sound sets. I set up an eng file to use two different sets of sounds and both played. I also set them up in the same way as Stuart Williamson did his, one continuous stream from zero to max and back down again, and there were no sound glitches that I could hear.

I just notice yesterday that the reskin of Scotts USRA mike I am painting for the FBL which used to have chuffing sounds did not. I hadn't changed anything in the engine file of the sound folder but had not run the loco in the sim for over a month. thinking I had accidently changed something I started testing others and all of the steam locomotives in all of my min-route installs no longer have chuffing noises. this includes Derrick Millers WP steam locos and the 3DTrainstuff Cab forwards.

I updated my OR install to ver. T1.5.1-925-g1c557094e this morning and none of them make any chuffing noise. I quickly read through the tread this morning and am unsure is the problem supposed to be fixed? Or do I have some sort of error in my Open Rails install?

Hi Darkhorse427,
Is it only the 'chuffing' sounds which are missing, or is it all sounds?

Have you changed the 'Sound detail level' setting in OPTIONS > Audio? it should be set at 5.

Cheers,
Ged

It is only the chuffing sounds. all others are present. I don't remember changing any of those settings in pen rails, but I will check...
[6 hours later]
Audio was set to 5 checked all other settings and didn't see anything off. So I downloaded a new installer for stable 1.51, uninstalled and cleared out registry entrys for OR and reinstalled. Chuffing sound back. Must have had a corrupted file somewhere.
