Most users new to TSRE5 ( or those not visiting the forums or keeping up with the TSRE discussion threads ) do not know to add the following line to the settings.txt file >>>>
writeTDB = false
If the user is only interested in the activity editor, or repositioning or modifying shapes in the route then this setting is important to have.
Also an awareness when saving activities is necessary in case something has changed in the route....because in my experience TSRE will always ask if you want to save the changes to the activity and also the route.

Hello.
Just a thought:
Maybe opening damaged route for editing and re-writing to *.tdb all corrupted sections will help (select and press Z key for those, which are not marked with yellow vector line above)
However, might be better just to replace damaged *tdb-file for having all paths functional, instead of re-installing the whole route...
