Hi.
I cannot make route riter work on Windows 11 Home edition. I've installed both java 64 and 32 bit versions, copied class files from tsutil folder to (new) class folder of both Java versions. I'm constantly getting error 380 for route riter vers. 7.5.60.,or error 1001 for 7.8 version of RR.

Thanks for any advice.

Do you have MSTS installed?
RR is looking for it in the registry.

Hi,
Error 380 is not a Java related error, but, more likely, one concerning Route_Riter's Registry entry.

This is the contents of an email I received from Mike Simpson regarding this error :

Quote

Run regedit from the Start button and go to:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings

Under this Key you should see Route_Riter. Right click on Route_Riter and select Delete

Next time you run RR all should be well

I can't answer for error 1001 because I don't run v7.8.xx.

Please note that the same Registry entry is used by both Mike Simpson's and the later 7.8 versions of R_R
.
Cheers,
Ged

Some time back, one man have re-vamp RR to run it under modern OS.
Do You familiar with it? Doesn't that new version work well?

One argentinian guy have taken code from "person", improved it and released on GitHub.
He also tried to contact Mike (without success) and Karl-Heinz (TS Utils author).

For some cases that was enough to make empty text file, place with routes and trains and rename it to train.exe.
however, that was about win 10 os, not 11.

MSTS is installed from DVD, and I think that installation didn't put registry items from MSTS, activity editor did't work as it should. So I've exported reg files from old laptop (windows 10) and it works (activity editor) as it should. I've tried to delete registry item for route riter, without success.

If anyone has link or exe file or something else for version that runs on windows 11, i would be glad.

I've attached added reg files for MSTS. MSTS is needed only for activity editor, I'm using Open Rails MG.
Just to mention, everything worked well on Windows 10, but Route Riter doesn't work on windows 11.
...............................
After some time...Extracted reg files from windows 10 laptop for route riter (as mentioned above), reinstaled RR 7.8.6, added reg files, and it looks that RR works, cheked route, activity, compressed and decompresed .s files. Only when i click on "Read current MSTS directory", RR chrashes. For me, that is sufficient, for now...
Added reg files for Route Riter and MSTS (If anyone find it useful, feel free to use it).

Attached File(s)
