TSRE5 consists aren't saving after I hit save multiple times on the Consist Editor. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

First rule, don't install your trains to the programs folder or any other folder controlled by Windows system security.
It prevents TSRE (an unknown program), and others, from writing to the folder.
I think this is one of the main problems with getting more people to use OpenRails. Nobody knows where or how to get started.
I know, RTFM. I don't want to and neither does anybody else. But if we had a prominent "START HERE" section in the forums, well, everybody likes to read the forums.
Neither Elvas or TrainSim have a place to get started.

We have tutorials on the homepage at TS, and they do get viewed. The 'how to install on Windows' tutorial has been viewed 28 times since the beginning of the month

How many clicks does it take to get there?
There's got to be a reason why people continually use the windows folders.

Habit?
Lazyness to think/to do any extra things?
Like this?
Any recommendations for improvement?

I get extra content in my TSRE5 thing, it's just after creating and saving a new consist it doesn't show up anywhere. Does it show up in one of the TSRE5 folders? Is there any way to create consists without a consist creating tool?

It should show up in the consists folder inside the trains folder.
There are a few peculiarities that prevent it from working.
It will show at the end of the log file in the TSRE folder.
I'm trying to create one right now and get this.
[I] "cbqcombine3533eot"
[I] Nowy 90 shape: "t:/0_neks/trains/trainset/RIL Combine/RIL-Combine-102.s"
[I] 17
[I] Nowy 50 shape: "t:/0_neks/trains/trainset/RIL Combine/RIL-Combine-102.s"
[I] 17
[I] "t:/0_neks/trains/consists/RIL-#18 w/18 mixed.con"
[I] "t:/0_neks/trains/consists/RIL-#18 w/18 mixed.con"
[I] con file write error. file not open "t:/0_neks/trains/consists/RIL-#18 w/18 mixed.con"
[I] "SQC"
[I] "t:/0_neks/trains/consists/MaPa26&12mixed.con"
[I] "t:/0_neks/trains/consists/RIL-#18 w/18 mixed.con"
[I] "t:/0_neks/trains/consists/RIL-#18 w/18 mixed.con"
[I] con file write error. file not open "t:/0_neks/trains/consists/RIL-#18 w/18 mixed.con"
I'm going to have to figure out why.
I've been working on an engine, trying to get it in game and probably have a bad entry in a .eng or .wag somewhere.

Yeah thats the thing. I "created" a consist with perfectly fine assets. No errors, it just doesn't show up anywhere. I tried deleting and reinstalling TSRE5 but it doesn't work. Maybe it's the OS i have it on? I have no idea.

Hello and welcome, Ted.
Sorry, I was distracted to greet You, answering to Randy.
It's possible to write consists with text editors, or modify existing consists, using them as a template.
New consist have to be saved in folder ..\consists, relative to folder, where content, used to form it is being.
Why do You storing content in TSRE folder? It won't be accessed by ORTS then.
TSRE has its own, specific assets for populating a new route, being built from scratch, since there can be no MSTS installation.
Rolling stock shouldn't be stored in TSRE folders, instead, it should be in "installation", where the routes are, and a Global folder.

I'm not storing my content in my TSRE folder, i'm storing them in my Consists/Trainset folders. Also that is really helpful with the manual consists thing, could you tell me more?
