Yes, the Illinois has outside Stephenson gear on an outside crank. Not unheard of, but certainly not common either.

Thanks for mentioning the truss rods, hadn't caught that.
More progress on the roundhouse....
I stopped just short of a full 360, though it's built in modules. Stalls can be added, or taken away.
Next challlenge....how to get it into OpenRails?
