Few more images

Pretty much any weather condition can be simulated (wind / rain / fog etc) as well as any sun position (including accurate sun based on Long and Lat of site). All BIM data is contained in model so it is possible, in real time, to turn off components…ie cladding, brickwork, see the full steelwork model / bolt holes etc.
All clouds are fully volumetric, totally adjustable in every way (and controlled via the integrated weather system), they are not just a pretty bitmap background.. they exist in the model like everything else. All vegetation blows in the wind (every leaf & blade of grass). Full weather sound effects too!
Accurate vehicle models also included, as well as trains (moving and stationary).
At dusk/ night-time an accutate star system becomes visible, including correctly positioned moon. All streetlights can also be turned on. Track chainages can be turned on and off, signals can be repostioned / moved etc.

Eh, where is my super-computer to play this?
Where is my sack of money to get it?

OTOH, real-like picture either does not allow any place for imagination, either lets it into higher level: depending on individual's features.

I have a RTX3080 and a fairly old I7, no need for super computer, just super tech, which is what UE5 is!

You have just gave me (only?) some hope.
But, they say, that technology have some legal and financial restrictions itself...
They are in trouble, would it conflict with ORTS free&open source conception?

Sorry, not sure what you mean by:

Sorry too, for not having opinion, based on knowledge of facts, but on other's talking so only.

Moving Open Rails over to Unreal or Unity will take much programming time and money, and neither of the big game engines is open source. I know both have a “free” version, but that version is designed mainly for you to learn the platform.

As for Open Source, both big game engines' license agreements have that you are not allowed to publish any code containing proprietor code. This means that it will not be open source. This means anyone working on the project must have an agreement with Unreal or Unity.

Sorry I have no real knowledge of Open Rail etc, I was only posting here as I noticed someone had posted my video here!, Bytheway UE5 does not have a "free" version, its all free ... kind off.... bascially, if you make over a million bucks they take 5% or something like that.

I'd welcome You to try ORTS.
Might be, You'll like it.
Project does need some open-minded devs more.

Oh, must be. These 5% looking just less, than nothing.

You know, this conversation have forced me to think about it now by myself:
Well, there are different game genres... Or conceptions. All are good and do have sense.

Some are eye-candy, up to welcoming us into VR world. It may be dangerous for kids, if misuse, but it would be great for those, who haven't opportunity to be in touch with real things, it's a chance to feel history, to visit space, oceanic bottom, or train's cab (either, modern, or retro)

Others are more about a process. The process would use, train and develop imagination, and, being excited, player won't pay attention on some visual lacks. These games are not about it and primary not for it.

The only problem, IMO: today I would drive, hours later - just lean back and enjoy train ride, looking around. Here is regret: no opportunity to combine both in one, free game, being continuously developed in both - extensive (content) and intensive (functionality and reality) ways.
