Hi Folks,
As the possibility of PBR textures seems as if it might be on our horizon - just thought I'd post my experience with PBR and why this is such an exciting prospect - for those unfamiliar. As an avid Flight Sim guy (although I've been out of touch since before the new MSFS came on the scene) - I've got a fairly substantial amount of experience painting aircraft. The Lear in the following images - is one of my all-time favorite aircraft which I've painted 8 or 9 times - both prior to Lockheed Martin's PBR implementation and after. It's basically the same model - with PBR textures added to it. As a painter - I simply painted the color maps - someone with far more experience than I painted all the others maps associated with PBR (they were distributed with the commercial package).

To say the difference is absolutely stunning is an understatement. I'm truly hoping we can achieve similar results.

Scott

If I hadn't already tried with an A320, I would say show me a downloadable MSFS2020 Learjet and let us see how it looks in OR. But MSFS uses some specially flavoured gltf format, and i couldn't yet load the geometry of that plane. Some final peace is missing, don't know what is the undocumented difference from the standard gltf. And also the texture is in some KTX format that is unsupported in MonoGame.

Hi Folks,
Sorry - I'm no help - I never made the jump to MSFS2020 - it's usually a $3,000.00 dollar or so investment to get all the necessary software (addons) needed to achieve good results in a Flight Sim - everything is payware.
Regards,
Scott

Laci, thanks, but sorry, we absolutely need a gltf, other formats won't work.
