It needs a new UI.

Some of the functions should be saved... texture painting for instance, multiple .ref files, etc., etc. but it needs, ahem, something much like a windows framework so all of the windows can be easily resized, relocated, iconized. The basic functions (e.g., select, move, place new, rotate camera, rotate object paint terrain) should all be icons in a floating toolbar. Right mouse click functions for things like "Do water/rmc set height/ draw / erase". Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, use the 4 arrow keys to move the window. Terrain editing needs a fair bit of work -- Edit Terrain/rmc Select by point / select by drawn area/square/circle,triangle,hex.

I would think all of the functions should be a simple lift and shift. Math is math, file operations are file operations....

How they get initiated and executed is really all that's really new development. Not a small task, but not really rocket science either.

If I understood 3d rendering and object movement, this is something I'd run with, but I don't.

That's not an area I've ever worked with as a developer, but I know there are others who probably know that piece and just need the route builders like Dave, me, Sean, etc. to give guidance.

I would also like to hear about how the migration of issues to GitHub is going. Is it planned for after OR v1.6?

We were waiting for the website move to the new host as that project had a hard deadline.

The migration of the Launchpad BugTracker to GitHub Issues is going ahead and not waiting for OR v1.6. It's already been tested and the documentation changes have been prepared too (and there were a surprising number of them). Just need to migrate the changes for the old website to the new website (which uses different coding).

Our next session is in a week's time, on Sat 16th Sep.

Is there any topic that you would like ORMT to discuss?

Or, what to do with ORTS contributed activity editor project, which looks freeze for years; should be Peroetual Kid's toolbox used that program is based on 4.6 frameworks...

Uh? Maybe I missed something, but what happened to Goku, I thought TSRE was still being developed

Hello.
Due to serious health issues, he likely have abandoned said project in that February, made source code public on GitHub, then - even have stopped to run dedicated EU forum.

I don't know if it was health or just lack of interest that caused him to stop.

Regardless, that project is effectively over unless someone else picks it up.

Indeed about both statements: reasons are not principal, development is more actual.
And, there was an opinion, it would be better, if code to be ported into the same programming language, as ORTS uses.
But that likely could mean, it's more rational to write a new program, recreating and improving TSRE features and adding new ones, than struggling with a code, written by other author, for initially different aims, and with very "specific" approach, comfortable and understandable for said author only.
