Hi Aldarion.

You mentioned Darwins handbook. Where can it be downloaded from?

Sincerely, Laci1959

I would welcome feedback comparing Testing and Unstable Versions for known locations in
  • Australia
  • South Africa
  • Japan
  • Moscow
  • Scotland
  • New York
  • Vancouver
  • and (for a location where the projection has negligible distortion)
  • Texas

Thanks for reporting better results for Australia, Scotland, Germany, Portugal, Chicago and Seattle (near Vancouver).

I wonder if we should check India, since we have so many Indian users (though not on Elvas Tower). However India is so close to the equator that I don't expect much distortion.

Please could we still have some feedback for:
  • South Africa
  • Japan
  • Moscow

Thanks.

To the author of this little addition, a huge thank you for this. I see posts about accuracy and route lengths, etc. of which I know nothing about route development and placement accuracy but am going to start learning so that I can build a few local to me routes here in Pennsylvania, USA.

Back on topic, this little feature is quite immersive as I travel some of the routes and end up watching the map for where the sim scenery correlates to the real world scenery which is nice.

I’m sure some of the accuracy bugs will be worked out in future versions, although from what I’ve read so far, much depends on the accuracy of the route when built in either MSTS or ORTS.

None the less, a great addition. Again, thank you for this. I sincerely appreciate your work.

A small note: many popular Indian routes are either compressed scale, or not built following the actual right of way. This map feature would be useless in this scenario.

On my own route set at the Khyber Pass, distortion seems minimal, and related more to the projection of a flat map onto hilly terrain.

Latest unstable update seems to not have the map feature when typing in loalhost:2150? Or am I missing something?

I've just updated to U2022.12.11-1936 and that adds the Map option to the menu in your image.

Do you need to reload your browser page to show the latest page, I wonder?

Got it. I must have checked stable version a few days ago. Checked unstable, updated and viola. It's there.
