Can anyone help with an error received when trying to restart in timetable mode. The error report is attached.

Hi David,

for my layman's eyes the error message hints to some issue with reading/interpreting engine and wagon descriptions while setting up the trains for the timetable. Could you please enable the option "verbose ENG/WAG configuration messages" on the "Logging" tab? That should result in a log file that might show us which configuration file was read immediately before the crash.

I tried to reproduce your error, but ran only a few minutes into the simulation before saving. With that I didn't get any error message. Maybe uploading the save and replay files might help as well.

Regards, Peter

Attached is the log file with "verbose ENG/WAG configuration messages" set.

Gents,

>Error: System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException

Does this not point to a missing directory?

That sounds logical but how does one find the name of the missing directory?

Ged's utilities may find a problem.
As I suspect its a problem with what may be used by an eng file.

I suggest MSTS_check would be the first to run.

I've used Sysinternals' Process Monitor to see what's happening when the saved game is resumed.
(all paths are relative to \NewForestRouteV3\TRAINS\TRAINSET)

The first engine file loaded is the Player locomotive
\DEE_S15_30514\DEE_S15_30514.eng

but its "real" engine and wagon data comes from two include files
\Common_Locomotives\LSWR_S15_engine.inc
\Common_Locomotives\LSWR_S15_wagon.inc

The next wagon file loaded after that is the tender
\DEE_S15_30514\DEE_S15_30514T.wag

which gets its data from
\Common_Locomotives\LSWR_tender_5000.inc

I hope this helps a bit.

Greetings, Peter

Hello.
Is it some kind of developer's function?

If you are talking about Process Monitor, it is a program that can log anything happening at the cpu level.
In this case, Peter has tracked any request from the file manager, by using filters.

Process Monitor and a suite of other system level programs are under microsoft control.

The first "action" to be taken in the timetable, properly setup, is to pick-up a loose consist at Eastleigh. Saved activities run correctly before this is dune but, if saved after, they crash.
