We are seeing some impressive timetables being constructed.
One of the issues with timetables is the "pre-run" phase. If the player chooses to drive a train that is not at the start of the timetable, then Open Rails pauses the loading screen and simulates the timetabled trains at high speed until the time to start the player train. (Instead of 30 frames a second or more, it's 5 seconds a frame). Then the progress bar on the loading screen resumes until the graphics are fully loaded.
There is no indication of how long this "pre-run" process is taking and it appears that Open Rails is just stuck.
How about adding a second progress bar which would appear above the first during the "pre-run" and then disappear again? It might look something like this:
