To be clear, I am using Win 7, 64 bit.

Any attempt to run the Trackviewer, as indicated in the official OR 1.4, OR New Year Monogame, Testing, etc results in this message:

Attached File  StartupError.gif (17.67K)
Number of downloads: 4

There is of course no information about this failure in the OR log file. I am trying to run Trackviewer from plain vanilla installations, no Reshade etc.

I have tried to find a post here at Elvas Tower with a definitive solution to this problem without success. In my experience I have never gotten Trackviewer to run from a Monogame distribution, ever. I thought I would make another attempt, but that seems futile. It is not clear to me why Trackviewer is broken for me, especially when I read that the software development team have no problems ever with this executable! If it runs in Win 10/11, why is it broken in Win7?

In the Monogame distributions mentioned, all other contributed software works as expected, regardless of any bugs. Likewise, the OR staples such as Menu.exe, Runactivity.exe all run as expected. This is not the case for Trackviewer, which has never worked for me in any Monogame distribution.

Can somebody help please? This is most concerning as there is no detailed diagnostic information as to why Trackviewer would refuse to even start. I somehow doubt that I am the only one with this problem. At present, the only fallback solution is to use Trackviewer from OR 1.3.

Thanks for your help,
Steve

I have never gotten Track Viewer included with MonoGame to work. I think it's because I use reshade. It messes with the graphics. Never gotten an error though.
I have a version of OR dated 1/16/2020 installed that I only use for Track Viewer, shortcut is on the desktop.
Shouldn't have to use workarounds but it works for me.

Just what I've been doing, although not because the one with MG would not work, just too lazy to try it. I've always used the trackviewer that came with the latest stable version. Have there been any updates to the trackviewer?...I can't seem to remember any.

I don't think there have been any updates but, like you, I'm too lazy to find out.
My version works. Good enough for me.

Edit: Well I checked the files from 1/16.2020 and from ORMG106. They went from 302 KB TO 324 KB so there was a change.
Maybe one of these days I'll check it out.

Edit2: I went ahead and checked ORMG 106 (daily driver) and Track Viewer works just fine, even with reshade.
I'll use it. See if there's any difference.

The ones I see on James Ross' site are these, not the one you mentioned.

Thanks,
Steve

What O/S are you using?

Thanks,

Are you using OR 1.4 stable from the Openrails Web site?

What O/S version are you using?

Thanks,
Steve

As I suspected...I think this problem is not compiling/testing under Win7-64, even though Win7 is still supported by Open Rails.

I've used it on Win7 but it's been a few years.
It does use a lot of RAM. Do you have enough?
