I think I've got it figured out.
I like to take deep shots.

It's roughly 313 m ( 1026ft) from the tractor to the locomotive.

So, I step back from the track and use a lot of zoom.
I'm managing to get quite a bit of scenery in place to help with the multi layered effect.
