Since firemen, who care for boiler, remained on locomotive, why should driver in a rear cab monitor the pressure?
Better performance? Electro-distant gauge might be, technically.
Where did You take that idea?

The Germans did that. A steam-driven servo motor operated the cylinder charging (cutoff) and the regulator (regulator). Only the heater worked in the back. I even saw a picture of it. The regulator was connected to the steam engine by the drive chain of the MZ motorcycle manufactured in the GDR. I also had a motorcycle like that.
In Hungary, as Weter wrote, they went with two locomotive drivers.

In UK the driver, in the driving trailer had
Regulator (which operated the loco regulator either mechanically, or by compressed air or by vacuum)
Brake (which could apply the brakes, but not release them)
Whistle (which operated locomotive whistle or a horn on the car)
Bell (to signal to the fireman to release the brakes)
The fireman on the loco released the brakes when signalled to do so by the driver.
The rules said that the reverser / cut off should be set at the start of the route and not adjusted. Some firemen adjusted the cut off anyway on hilly routes.

Hello,
I recently downloaded the demo control car set from CTN website. However attempting to start with the control car results in OR crashing. Likewise, if I start with the powered cab and attempt to switch to the control cab with Ctrl+E, it also crashes.
Has anyone used a control cab in recent unstable versions?

This control car with SME brakes is not working at the moment. Control cars using air brakes, vacuum brakes or EP brakes are still functioning. One of the developers is working to try to resolve the issue. See http://www.elvastowe...post__p__295884

Thanks for the feedback, I'll change my braking schemes accordingly then
