Just put a boxcar a hundred feet behind this locomotive and have a look again.

'm pretty sure this light sphere originates from behind the locomotive.
The code I poated does originate at the rear of the loco.
No down pointing or origin pointing AT the loco from elsewhere. The code tells it all.

So, what's the name of the locomotive and what library is it in?

The locomotive is La Salle Rockford and Central GP18 #216 in my Lehigh Valley Cornell Red paint. It is not in any file libraries, unless, of course, you count my computer as a file library. Never did like the "default" scheme. I don't share my work often, as I'm really not that talented a painter. I've attached a screenie. Could be persuaded to share these, mainly because I've set them up for ORTS only following the NAVS GP9 templates.
Add this code to the beginning of the lights section for Tyler Bundy's GP18 low nose:
Lights ( 34
Light (
comment( Sphere of light )
Type ( 1 )
Conditions (
Headlight ( 3 )
Unit ( 2 )
)
Cycle ( 0 )
FadeIn ( 0.5 )
FadeOut ( 0.5 )
States ( 1
State (
Duration ( 1 )
LightColour ( ffFFE4AB )
Position ( 0 3.5 8.44 )
Transition ( 0 )
Radius ( 150.0 )
Angle ( 20.0 )
)
)
)
Light (
comment( Sphere of light Rev )
Type ( 1 )
Conditions (
Headlight ( 2 )
Unit ( 3 )
)
Cycle ( 0 )
FadeIn ( 0.5 )
FadeOut ( 0.5 )
States ( 1
State (
Duration ( 0.0 )
LightColour ( ffFFE4AB )
Position ( 0.0 3.9 -8.44 )
Transition ( 0 )
Azimuth ( 180 180 180 )
Radius ( 150.0 )
Angle ( 20.0 )
)
)
)
That should give you a rear facing light cone.
Usually I set up four light spheres for when I'm doing switching at night, but for this locomotive I've only got the two in it so far.

Hi Doug,
Took a little tinkering but I have the rear headlight working properly in one of the RS-10s I've never see this before, pretty much every engine I have from the last 18 year has the rear sphere of light facing the rear end of the unit from a distance and that's how I was taught to do it when I was adding light to my first engine.
Thanks for this, guess I know what I'll be busy doing tomorrow! Very cool!

You are very welcome, Paul. Glad I could help.
