Hi

Me too - still jerking.

I misremembered yesterday when I wrote 'rendering figure'. I meant to write 'updater process', which runs constantly at or near 100%, considerably higher than either the unstable or the testing OR versions. I wrote about this back in Nov/Dec 2019, with examples of my testing at the time.

hello, I see the same thing, as soon as a parcel is a little loaded, the rendering process does not follow, because it is not multithreaded, the cpu never exceeds 50 percent load, and the gpu is never saturated , yet significant falls do occur, which in landscapes aged 10 years not very flattering for openrails.for me that should be a priority, i don't care about having a cruise control, if i have 10 frames per second IF it there are more than 3 trains in a station

I hope it will be fixed soon.
It´s a pitty.

I must play old XNA version without new features and lower graphics quality.

MG version looks very good, but it is not playable, if it´s jerking all the time.

I've noticed, that:
1. frame rate is floating from, say 39 to 113 fps.
This alone, is not so bad, though, it's not clear, why should we gain frame rates over 25 fps, since our eyes can't see any difference above 25 fps? But VGAs have usually 60, of 75 Hz refresh rates, (I guess, the meanings, that have proper ratio would be better: 60 is 30 times 2, and 75 is 25 times 3; 50 is harmful/tedious for eyes, as it interferes with power supply's current harmonics and is 25 times 2, and also is close to resonance with nerve base frequency, times about 8Hz)?
2. the movement of game's action is being suddenly accelerated for 1-2 seconds in some cases. Looking like an attempt for rendering to pursue the update process.
Is that the same issue, as discussed here?

So, can anyone tell me the right way, does frame rate limiting to target (say, 30fps) by the experimental option of ORTS have sense in hi-grade PCs?

For my part, I am concerned about jerkiness rather than frame rates. I use vertical sync, and if FPS is 60 there is no jerkiness, but if it drops even to 59fps the problem arises. It doesn't appear to get any worse if FPS drops further, although I rarely see much less than 45fps given the system/settings/routes I have.

I tried testing OR version and it works good without any jerking and laggs :pleasantry:
So there is a bug in NEWyear MG version, but testing is OK for me.

Try it too.

Hi Martin,

Do you see the same problem using the Testing version?

This is the official Open Rails version which now uses Monogame and will soon become Open Rails Stable Release v1.4, so we need to know that it's OK for you.

Hi Chris.

No, the Testing version is just fine (and so too is the unstable version). As I said earlier, the testing version has been my goto version since it adopted MG. It is only the ORNYMG version that displays the issue, and these days I only use it to see what Carlo is developing.

I was also suffering lags and stuttering (but high framerate).
I think the offender is the Antimalware service executable bundled with windows. Then I excluded the MSTS content folder for windows securtity scan and stuttering is gone.
