In individual locomotive, it's needed to refer the place and shape of exhaust outlet:

Thanks for the info. I couldn't find this anywhere.

I'm also trying to set engines in different states. My idea is that the lower pitch engines are used, so I'll dial back the power a bit and mix in a little blue. The other aspect is the appearance of the locomotive. I also try to mix the color according to the engine used for the locomotive with peeling paint.

(old M62 had two funnels, no suppressor), they called taigatrommel in Germany, You've heared it's rumble, I emember.

I remember this from my childhood. The passengers covered their ears when it started with nearly 2,000 tons.

I guess, old parameters are mixed with ORTS and can alter them.

That's why I always delete the old parameters. For a specific type, I always keep it, but I make a note of it.

Yes, it's very unpleasant, when You've defined values, as You like, and then, in game, they have appeared "corrected" by forgotten in original file MSTS values.
But what I've told about - is using this effect for our benefit.

Parameters of Mása beginning with ORTS. It is advisable to copy it to the eng file in the Openrails folder. It works for me because I can see everything and find it easily.
If you have any comments, I welcome them.

Oh my!
Let's see...
But it will diverge of smoke modeling topic.

I've meant, instead of experimenting and guessing, it has sence to know formula, with which smoke is being generated.
What about brake parameters and tractive force table, I'll continue via PM

I read all the links. These were created before the creation of the ORTSDieselEngines block. I was never able to set it properly either. By using the ORTSDieselEngines block, this is simplified. The disadvantage is that you have to obtain the necessary engine data. This is sometimes very difficult because it is terribly guarded. The advantage, however, is that individual smoke, fuel consumption and the rest can be tailored to the locomotive.
Maybe you can change the color of the grass with the dieselsmoke.ace, dieselsmokevorher.ace files in the Textures folder in the Global folder. But I'm not sure about that.
A long time ago, Carlo made some kind of loading bat file to use dieselsmoke_heavy.ace, dieselsmoke_light.ace, dieselsmoke_medium.ace. This is another MSTS setting that I read about once, but never used.

Two short topics - yes, but the long one... I need to read it.
If no data, it's possible to build simple curves with only four entries - for min and max; because it's true: the engine block won't work without all data entered.

We do have some books.

3D trains (now dead) have offered three smoke variants. I prefer light, as it cAn be made thicker, if needed, but most transparent of them all.
Try ErickC's smoke texture as well.
Bat-files... I've made them too. Especially for changing clouds on skies. It's simple.

Weter,
Could you give those of us who are computer illiterate a short "how to" on your batch file.

Randy

1. Copy to working folder (in our case - Global\Textures) those three *.ace-files (light, medium, heavy)
2. Rename original dieselsmoke.ace to something different, but "speaking": for instance - dieselsmoke_orig.ace
3. Right-click on empty space of folder window's field and select Create->Text file
4. With Notepad (or other program, You prefer), open new file and type:
Copy dieselsmoke_heavy.ace dieselsmoke.ace

5. Save file, exit editor and rename it (new file.txt) to Heavy smoke.bat, or something, You like.
6. Make three copies of *.bat-file and rename them to "light", "medium" and "original"
7. Edit those three files, specifying appropriate source-file names and save them.
If Editor have SaveAs menu entry, You can do it faster, saving with needed names, then changing source (first) file's name inside, then save with next name.

Now, You have 4 source *.ace-files and four *.bat-files for selecting needed type of smoke.
Double-click needed *.bat-file and new dieselsmoke.ace will be created, containing demanded image inside.

Seems easy enough.
Thanks

Also suitable for changing other things, as skies, clouds, etc.
It also possible to make shortcuts to these *.bat-files from any location, You like, or write one *.bat-file, using menu code -for selecting preferred asset by yourself, using only one *.bat-file.

Hey, Randy, I've stumbled upon this:
http://www.elvastowe...post__p__270509
Looks like Gerry could teach You some tricks with *.bat-files, using to change and select ORTS content variations, with additions of making shortcuts in form of miniature pictures of stuff in question.
