File Name: UK Fairburn Tank engine with 3d cab
File Submitter: mrmosky
File Submitted: 04 Sep 2020
File Category: Steam Locomotives, 20th century (Open Rails only)

This is a repaint of a Fairburn tank engine by Mickrik (Michael Young) with permission. I have added a 3d cab to the steam engine. The file contains a readme with instructions. Positive feedback welcome. Negative feedback you can keep to yourself, unless it is a problem with installation.

Thanks, Chris. I've got mine and will try to squeeze in a run during my "bizzy" schedule today ;) ... I have no rake for it though; lost all my UK stock years ago.

I actually downloaded the engine from UKTS and I have some questions:

1. Where do I find the "common.headcodes" needed for the lamps? I can't find it anywhere on UKTS.

2. I hooked the engine up to a test consist, but the game graphics (and my Raildriver speedometer) appear to stutter whenever the engine tries to accelerate. What's going on?

The common headcodes may have been issued with the original engine by Mickrik. I will check and post on here is that is the case.
(edit) Yes the file that contains this folder is UKTS_32850_CCW_Midland_Fairburn_Pack. If you download these engines, you can easily add the 3d cab to them too if you wish.

I don't know what may be causing the stuttering. I wonder if anyone else hass the same issue? Are you using the Monogame version of OR?

In your download I also miss the lamp. (At least at night I have light but no "lamp object" on the smokebox door.)
I'm not bothered by speedometer "stutter" in the 3D cab (OR or MG), but I wonder what you mean by "raildriver speedometer"?

Still a question regarding sound, has the named .SMS (Sounds) in the .ENG been adapted for the fairburn? The .SMS's I have in this directory (without xxx_fb.sms) is very "poor". (maybe I will adjust this in due course, I hope it sounds better ...)

But model and 3D cab is very beautiful.
Only have to try the vacuum brakes with the right wagons ... (still something to learn :) )

I think you will find the lamp objects are within the "common headcodes" folder mentioned above. I had not appreciated that these were missing.
The sounds are standard 2 cylinder sounds and so are not adapted for this engine. I don't have any expertise in sound files, so I cannot make custom ones.

Hello @All:

you must download this file: UKTS_31673_CCW_BR_4MT_42073_&_42085.zip
This one contains the original locomotive.

Greetings
Arnold

No stutter of the speedometer on my computer.

Nice cab Geoff. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Marek.

Thanks for that Arnold. Beware though that if you download this and install it afteryou have installed my model, the 3d cab and other effects will be missing. You need the .eng file from my upload, plus fire.s and .sd plus fireman.s and .sd, and shadow.s and .sd to be in the engine's folder (not the CABVIEW3D folder.)

If you want to add the 3d cab to another engine within this folder, you need to copy the .eng file for ccw_br_4mt_42073_EC.eng, and change all the instances of 42073_EC for the new engine number. Then save as ccw_br_4mt_42085_EC.eng for instance.

If you want to add the 3d cab to another engine altogether, then you need to copy the CABVIEW3D folder into that engine's folder and copy the fire, and fireman s and sd files into that folder too. And then edit the .eng file as above. You would only need the shadow.s and .sd if the engine is the same model.

I hope that is clear.
