I make appeal to the OR developers. I am writing on behalf of the Romanian community, around 850 users registered on our site(openrailsromania.ro)
. In order to keep the community active, we frequently organize competitions with activities (driving time, speed on the sector, fuel consumption, emergency braking, etc.). For a correct separation, please analyze if the log file may not be editable. At this point the log file can be edited and the competitor can cheat the contest. Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, this is not really possible. Open Rails could encrypt or obfuscate the dump file, but that would go against its original purpose as a debugging aid, and such techniques could be easily circumvented by any determined competitor with enough technology skills.

So I'd say your best bet is to use the replay feature to make submissions, or ideally to stick with the honor system.
