Hi All,
I would like to ask about the purpose of the steam parameter ORTSSuperheatCutoffPressureFactor. I thought it shall be used to model the behaviour that with increasing speed
it becomes more difficult to fill the cylinders with steam and the cylinder pressure at cutoff becomes smaller and smaller as speed increases.
I assumed a reduction of the default value will decrease the filling of the cylinders as speed increases thus lowering the performance of the locomotive.
If you do so you get a lower performance and less steam consumption at every cutoff level as expected.
Now if you increase the cutoff again to the level that gives the same cylinder steam consumption as before I would expect that the performance level (IHP) of the machine is lower due to the fact that the expansion phase is shorter.
The extended F5 HUD shows the opposite: IHP is increased, steam consumption per IHP hour is decreased. So I guess I have a wrong understanding of the parameter at all.
Is here anyone who has a better understanding of this parameter?
Regards
Gehe
