There has been a change indeed, but it was wrong before. Some diesel engine parameters were not copied from the first instance of any diesel locomotive to the subsequent ones. These parameters are
(some of them have the ORTS prefix in the .eng file) ExhaustAccelIncrease, ExhaustDecelReduction, EngineCooling, DieselTempTimeConstantSec, DieselOptimalTemperatureDegC and DieselIdleTemperatureDegC. Now they are correctly copied. I suppose the change is due to this. This fix should be present also in next Testing release. I don't know if there have been changes also in the force calculations (which could affect the exhaust), but, if any, they should be present in next Testing release too.

Re the shadows problem, I'm sorry but I'm not able to reproduce the problem. Here it works correctly.

OK, as far as the shadows go, can you try them with the snow terrtex I supplied # 1762, not sure how that could be the cause but it would eliminate that.

Speaking of shadows.

Is there a way to get the dark shadows shown in the Shapeviewer shot (top) to show in game (bottom).
I have Dark Shade applied to the polys that need it and dynamic shadows enabled but it doesn't show in game.

Noticed this yesterday while testing. Transfers work in Winter Clear but are grey in Winter Snow.

Spring Clear, note the green and brown transfers used as farm fields. You can also see the Mohawk River in the background.

In Winter Clear you see the fields and river are the same 247/247/247 white color.

In Winter Snow the transfers and river are now a grey color and not the 247/247/247 white color used for the transfers and terrtex.

You can also see the barn and train cast shadows in the Spring Clear and Winter Snow on the terrtex but not in the Winter Clear shot.

Paul and Randy,
graphics is definitely outside my knowledge, sorry. I'd only ask to test whether the same occurs with the official OR versions.
Paul, is your screenshots' route located in Canada? I was wondering if the shadows problem has something to do with the sun angle. Could you test with a route located at mid US latitudes, if you want to do a short test?

Hi Carlo,
My route is in Upstate New Your, near Albany. I'd have to find a mid-west American route to download and test, I'll look around. Or maybe I can just create something simple with a could of structures, a field, and a few trees.

I noticed that locomotive smoke has increased almost back to the days when MSTS engines were placed in an Open Rails environment. This just started in 147.
...
First shot is from OR 1.5.1, the smoke appears correctly after the settings were changed long ago so the smoke would be so bad with MSTS settings. This remained the same until ORNYMG 147.

In ORNYMG 147 the smoke looks much like if did when an engine with MSTS smoke settings was brought into Open Rails.

Hello, Paul.
Couldn't it be caused by usage of different diecelsmoke.ace texture in said versions?

The two shots ARE the same engine take yesterday, two minutes apart. The one and only change was I went into the activity editor and changed Winter Clear to Winter Snow.

Just reinstalled the Springfield Terminal Railway, an electric line. Put a B-1b on the tracks at the carbarn. when I started a test activity, the brakes were already released and the pole was up. Gave it the minimum power and got a continuous wheel sip warning. Went up to about 0.3 mph before coming to a stop and to get it to move I needed 50% throttle to overpower the continuous wheel slip that never went away. I was on level track when I started. At full throttle going down a 3.5% grade I was still getting a wheel slip warning.

Someone know why? This use to work fine in MSTS, was there something added to make this less enjoyable?
