Good evening, One thing I miss is the ability to use Kosmos environments with ORTS. Or at least I haven't figured out how to make it work yet? In Kosmos we could have lightning arcing across the skies even know because of MSTS representing the world as flat the effect would quickly fade out. I have been wondering with ORTS dynamic weather if we could maybe have 2d lightning in the sky effects at the minimum? According to some quick looking it should be possible in XNA to make it work? Lightning I am not sure how or if thunder cracks could be somehow linked to lightning effects? Probably could make it all work together somehow.

I'd be more than happy to provide audio. As I live in the land where the sky spins all summer, I have often taken it upon myself to record severe thunderstorms on the off chance it might be useful.

I wrote my post during a fast moving severe thunderstorm last night.
I know the ORTS Dev team is sick of me bringing up OpenBVE but those guys have what looks like 3d lightning effects. Lightning
The rest of the pictures of OpenBVE lightning can be seen here. More Lightning
I did find a little about coding 3d lightning My link

How does one make a trello card? Seems none of my attempts are successful.

I made the subject what I wished to happen
and then outlined the idea and how it might work in the body
