I've had another project long on my desktop - repainting a variety of passenger equipment sets.
I have two reasons for this interest:
1. I am working on adding nighttime window light treatment for my trains
2. I have never liked the look of the trains with see thru windows and no bodies in the seats.
So, here's my first set completed - A Reading EMU set by Jeff Link.
I'm rather pleased with the effort and feel that the old models look pretty darned good.
I know this style of treatment of windows is not to everyone's taste but my brother and I are happy with the results and I'll be converting the other sets - LIRR, PRR, etc.. with this treatment.
Creative comments/suggestions welcomed.
Enjoy.

Jeff did some neat work, back in the day. I've never downloaded those cars, are the truck sides solid with no alpha "cut-outs"?
The night texture is actually quite good, very believable aside from the fact the light tones darken with the rest of the car on the lee side of the light. But I still like your treatment in the windows, very artistic, Kevin. :sign_rockon:
I know Jeff would be happy to know his stuff is still being used.

Thank you Tim. Coming from you that's much appreciated.
This is still a WIP (as are most of my efforts) and I'll post some updates after I do a little editing. I hope to get true night shots of the windows in the dark, and I would like to experiment with a darker glass layer over what I did last night.
Much of this effort is slow as I'm not very artistic and so while I can see in my head how I want something to look, I lack the skills to actually achieve it. Sigh..
Besides my nagging brother -- ;) -- my other motivation is the continued exploration of long-lost, neglected or otherwise ignored files from our past and giving them new extended life.
Cheers
Kevin

Just found this thread. Excellent! If there's one area that needs updating it's early types (and early models mostly) of various US EMU's. The 54's cry out for a model of current quality too as there are now quite a few Routes that cry out for that content.
I'm all for reworking old models but sometimes the very old ones are almost impossible to work on because of the way they're skinned or the fact that we've now got folk producing 2048 skins as opposed to 512 ones. Of course the hardware 18 years ago struggled with better but that's no longer an issue.
