What would it take to get Open Rails to port to consoles like SteamOS or Invidia's new gaming console, or even a PlayStation or something else? I know it would be a bear to get all of the buttons programmed. I'm just wondering how much work it would take (for the programmers) to get it to work on a console.

Consoles What would it take?

If OR will work on linux, then you can make a steamOS version.
Xbox and Playstation requires huge money for license so not possible.

I would settle for Steam. It might actually be a big boost to the game if it were on Steam.

IMO releasing on Steam would be very good for OR as a whole lot of people who do not know of it could learn about it and perhaps download it.
That said, I don't see how the OR team could present OR on Steam w/o also presenting a route and there lies several problems: Most routes use KUJU tracks, textures, terrtex, and shapes and IIRC the original license does not allow those assets to be redistributed. The alternative of some other set of non-KUJU content runs into similar issues only with different people (e.g., 3dtrains owns Scalerail).
So it seems that unless somebody creates freeware replacements for all of that stuff it is going to be rather hard to give noobs a route to run on when they download OR from Steam.

Isn't Scalerail non-Kuju content? While there are some missing pieces, it could be possible to ask Marc about including his track system for the OR team, correct?

I already asked a few content providers if they would be willing to have their content distributed because I was exploring making open rails CD's to distribute at an event. Some said yes; some said no. That's ok. It was enough to have a credible offering.
