Hi there, I'm new around here.
TSRE5 is a marvel of engineering, however, I am having trouble creating a route. I have created "Warrington Line" a route that includes my home village, however after putting the relevant HGT files in the right places, and putting my GPX file with my markers in the route folder. However when I click "load map" or "load height" and click on the route, I get the tile window with load at the top, but clicking "load" does nothing. Is there something I am doing wrong? I have used the origin co-ordinates of the town I am starting with, Ellesmere Port, (53.2798° N, 2.8974° W) and I am at this location in the route editor but nothing happens?
Thanks for your time.

Thanks for providing the location - it's good practice.
But .. everything works for me.

Make sure you are doing everything right. After loading a map, you need to show it using show/hide map button.
Also remember that you need to restart TSRE after downloading new hgt files.

Hi Chris
Height files -- I have a folder called height within my route folder, and have this line in TSRE settings.txt
geoPath = E:/1MSTS/Routes/Zurich/Height.
The folder contains files similar to N46E006.hgt
It is a while since I used the "Load Height" button, but try this.
Tick the boxes beside "Create new tile if not exist" and "Create terrain from geodata"
Then move across your route until you come to the edge of your known universe. As you progress above the void, as if by magic, the terrain should appear beneath you.
Maps -- I don't think you have to do anything special to load OSM maps. I click on "Load" at the top of the new black tile window, it changes to "Wait" and soon the map appears. If you are looking for "Raster Images" from google maps you need a key (mine is 32 characters long" and this needs to be entered in your settings.txt.
Hope this helps
Garry

On your screen I see that you entered wrong Lat/Lon :) You forgot about "-" in longtitude.
Look where you are:
https://goo.gl/maps/QKBKvgNkAZq
So, it's not a bug that your map is empty and terrain flat. :)

:blush2: :blush2: :blush2: :blush2: :shock6: :shock6: That.... solves my problem! How embarrassing!
P.S, where does everyone upload routes to nowadays? Is it still UKTrainSim as that site is very sparse for OpenRails content?

Hi Chris
There are still people developing routes and other content on UKTrainSim. But a route takes a long time to develop, and some of the new content is still being uploaded as MSTS.
The forums for both OR and MSTS still tick along.

Just another one, the predefined ukfs tracks just appear green whereas the dynamic track looks good? Do you know why this might be?
(apologies for the upload quality - I am using an Intel Atom Z8300 laptop until my PC is working again and things are... not quite right)

It means that you don't have texture for UKFS tracks - TSRE works even if you have missing textures.
Download "UKFS route builder pack" or something like that and extract textures into your route.
