Steamer accelerates despite Direction and Regulator is at Zero

May be it is a good reality simulation in Open Rails than a bug: If I zeroed both reverser and regulator all of my steam locos begin to run and continuous accelerate (brakes are not aplied and the locos are on leveled tracks).
Will a steam locomotive start to run in reality with this conditions?
In MSTS is not that way. A zeroed reverser (Direction) can't accelerate a halted steam loco, no matter if the regulator is up to 100%.

Using same version of OR, I cannot get my steam engines to do that. They just do not move without control input.

Can you post an ENG file? There may be a glitch in the physics that is causing the phenomena.

My used eng files are similar to the one of the Gölsdorf 380. So use the MSTS steam loco Gölsdorf 380.
I do the following:
1. Start with the single Görsldorf 380 in "explore route" on any route at a leveled track
2. Releas train and engine brakes. Then initialze brakes (Shift + "-" )
3. Press "W" to increase reverser forward to 5%. The loco begins to move.
4. Press "S" to put the reverser to zero again (zero, but still forward)
5. The loco will become faster, despite you never touch the regulator!

OK, following the sequence I can replicate the problem with some engines, not all. This did happen some time ago, and was fixed, so I don't know why it is back with us.

In reality, due to wear it is possible which is why a steam locomotive is always parked with the hand brakes applied.

I was interested in knowing this. Thanks for the answer. ...Maybe it is not a bug, but a good simulation of reality and it should be leaved as it is?
Anyway, I suggest to set the reverser to exactly zero by a key combination, similar to the combination for the regulator (Control + A).
This would also be very helpful for shunting on the turntables. One have to set the reverser to zero before the moving of the turntable bridge is possible.

I tried this on x3876 with tank engine #813 at Kidderminster station and got the same effect. If you then select reverse it starts accelerating backwards, but in midgear it always accelerates forwards. It is as if there are small positive errors in the throttle and reverser settings.

If I remember correctly, I have seen while debugging on previous occasions in OR both the regulator and the reverser values are float variables. There is always a decimal place after the point. So if the F5 display shows: "Direction 0 Forward" a postive value like 0.4 may given for the reverser indeed.
That, once more, is the reason why I propose to have a key combination to set the reverser to exact zero, means 0.00.
This on the other hand doesn't explain, why the closed regulator (throttle) "leaks". Is its value bigger than 0.00, despite the use of "Control + A" before?
Where came the power from to move the locos despite closed controls :-?)
