Seems like everyone wants to do either a tiny little teapot or the largest locos out there. In light of that, I would like to suggest the following medium sized power:
ATSF 3400 Class Pacific, 3100 Class Mikado, 1950 Class 2-8-0, 900/1600 Class little 2-10-2
Southern Pacific Mk5 Mikado, P8 Pacific, C9 2-8-0, T-31 4-6-0
Almost anything UP except FEF3's, Challengers and Big Boys
Just my 2 cents. :bigboss:

As I happened across the 1951 movie Kansas Pacific today, I'd say Sierra #3 in all its movie guises.

I myself have been thinking of building a SP P8 Pacific type like SP 2472 and 2467

Yeah, I definitely agree. Things like those, and the Streamliners(Ya know, NYC Mercury, for example?), are severely neglected unfortunately. And I can't understand why, either.

Modern smodern: What would make for peace, harmony and bliss in the train simming world would be: MORE LINK n' PIN ENGINES! :yahoo:
Seriously... that segment could use:
In standard gauge:
From common builders with wheel types such as:
4-4-0's
2-6-0's
2-8-0's
4-6-0's
All with straight, funnel, and diamond stack options.
In narrow gauge:
DSP&P:
Mason-bogie 2-6-6T
Brooks Moguls
Cooke Moguls/Consols
All with stack variations so as to accommodate the various "stack eras" the South Park went through.
Okay, okay, I'll shut up... but since we're dreaming I thought I'd pitch in the above!!

A loco that would be nice to see is the Meyer Kitsons used on the Colombian Railway, either the 2-6-0+0-6-2 or the 2-8-0-0-8-2, both looked similair except the latter was longer. At least the larger one lasted until at least the 1960's
Note: these are 3 ft gauge machines.
This is the 2-8-0-0-8-2
Narrow gauge forever!
