Sounds like a Windows protected folder issue.
If you use folders that Windows had set up like Programs (x86) or desktop, user, etc. Windows will prevent unknown programs (TSRE) from writing to those folders.
Best to use folders like C:\Trains or E:\MSTS that you create outside of any system folders. You have control of those, not Windows.

Randy

Wanted to add. MSTS content, Openrails and TSRE need their own folders. They do not comingle well at all.
Such as. C:\MSTS, C:\TSRE, C:\OR. You use what works for you but keep them separate.

Any ideas? Used to work fine, but even the shape viewer from the same creator will display similar red blocks...

I'm guessing something changed between Windows, graphics drivers, and the OpenAL components being installed at the machine level, not the software directory level.

This problem doesn't occur with newer versions of TSRE available only at Trainsim.com, which are 64bit and include all the distributable components like OpenAL within the directory structure thus don't get interfered with by Windows Update.

Stable v8.004 available here --> https://www.trainsim...ileid?fid=88791

Testing v8.005 available here --> https://www.trainsim...-testing-v8-005

Thank you sir, this did the trick! BTW, I read on the TSRE forum that the tool has the ability to edit online? Does these versions have that option too?

Thanks again for the help!

Client/server editing is something Goku was trying to add before he ceased supporting TSRE, so if it was working in v7.012, then it's still there in v8.

That said, I'm not planning any enhancements on client/server functionality.

You forgot to say "hello".
It's being done, following usual editing tools logic:
Menu "File">"New" and choose units, You need. Then - give the name, you want, and "save".
